Brigljević Distillery: Authentic experiences that enrich Croatian tourism

[VOICE OF EXPERIENCE PROVIDER] Croatia is increasingly recognized as a destination that offers unique and authentic experiences such as liqueur tasting, and the Birgljević distillery stands out for its approach that combines tradition and innovation. It was founded in 2002, in Velika Gorica. We got to speak with them about what makes their offer special, and also about what motivation guides them in further development.

We believe that experience providers not only present their products and services, but through them convey the stories, traditions and identity of their country. Their work enriches the tourist offer and leaves an unforgettable impression on visitors, while at the same time contributing to the development of the entire tourism sector.
In order to better understand their motivations and contribution, we decided to give a voice to these creators of authentic experiences and bring their work closer to the wider market.

Why do you think that Croatian tourism and guests need authentic experiences like yours? Croatia has always been a very attractive destination for guests from all over the world. In the last few years, we have witnessed an increased interest in original, autochthonous experiences, mostly in enogastronomy. Unfortunately, although the demand is growing, the offer of such experiences is still not sufficiently developed. In addition to rich traditional cuisine and premium drinks, we see a huge untapped potential in creating experiences that can present our culture to foreign guests in a quality way. Such experiences not only provide insight into our history and customs, but through the prism of small local producers, such as our distillery, create a strong impression and an even more lasting connection with the destination. That's exactly why we created our own tasting program - to bring our guests closer to the top flavors of our region in an honest and authentic way, and thus show that Croatia has much more to offer than just the blue sea.
The motivation and work on new promotional channels and sales of authentic services was the result of pragmatism in response to the conditions in which producers of strong alcoholic beverages operate.
Where do you get the motivation to promote and sell such services through different offline and online channels? The motivation came primarily from the fact that, as a producer of strong alcoholic beverages, we are not allowed to advertise. From the beginning of the distillery, we quickly realized that we needed to explore alternative ways to expose ourselves and reach new customers. We produce premium drinks in small, limited editions, and we really care about the fact that our audience really recognizes their value.

Their development was organic, following the state of the market and the demand for tasting services and introducing people to a new dimension of drinking alcoholic beverages. A very special dimension.
Where did it all start, what motivated you to do this? The very concept of tastings actually developed organically over the years. On the one hand, we saw that there is nothing similar out there (at least in continental Croatia). On the other hand, we noticed that people are very curious and willing to discover new flavors in drinks and that they like to hear our story behind each bottle. Interest in tastings has skyrocketed with the launch of craft gin; soon after, we officially created a tasting program, which we continue to develop to this day.
