Royal Town Nin tour - city escape & local culture - ZCP

About the experience

This magnificent tour takes you to the heart of Nin — the oldest Croatian royal city, over 3000 years old, set on a tiny island wrapped by a shallow turquoise lagoon. Just a short drive from the Zadar cruise port, our guide will lead you through a story reaching back to the very beginnings of the Croatian state and reveal all the secrets of Nin's rich culture — the maritime tradition embodied in the Condura Croatica, centuries-old churches, statues and legends. You'll rub the big toe of the Grgur Ninski (Gregory of Nin) statue which, legend says, makes wishes come true, step inside the Church of the Holy Cross known as the smallest cathedral in the world, and stand before the remains of a monumental Roman temple. But Nin's history also rests on gastronomy — on salt and on šokol, a dried pork product of unique taste. That is why the tour includes a visit to the Salt Museum of the Nin Saltworks, where this white gold is still harvested by hand. As an optional add-on, you can book a šokol ham tasting in a restaurant recommended by local experts, or, if you prefer, enjoy 1.5 hours of free time to have lunch at your own pace. Indulge in this adventure full of scenes, scents and flavours inspired by tradition and history. The entire tour is approx 3-4 h long.
