About the experience

Learn the secrets of fish filleting and grilling, and how to prepare raw fish dishes! We meet at the Pula city center, and we source the best pieces of fish Pula’s fish market can offer, along with some seafood of your choice. Then we head for our family farm and cooking studio – Scuola (it is in Goran’s olive grove, 15 minutes away from Pula by car), where we practice fish filleting and utilize the fillets to make raw fish meals like carpaccio, which has been increasingly popular in Istria in recent years. We utilize the leftovers to make fish stock, which is used in seafood risotto, stews, and pasta sauces. At the end, we grill the best pieces of fish - on an open fire! Finally, we prepare a light desert using local ingredients. This class is 7 hours long.

Why this local experience is authentic

Our cooking classes are performed in our family farm - between Medulin and Ližnjan, in the southeast Istria. A small house hiding between olive trees is the origin of all my devotion to genuine food and wine. The main reason why I founded EatIstria in 2012. Here my grandmother Ana lived a true and hard peasant life.

On Sundays we charge 25% extra directly on the spot (on the price you can see here). All our programs are free of charge for children 0-6 years. In case of bad weather preventing us from making open fire we grill fish on a pan or prepare some other dish we agree on.
